Esteemed American fashion designer and December 2000 graduate of Florida A&M University, Jerry Lorenzo, visited his alma mater for the Black History Month Conversation to bestow wisdom on the community that helped to formulate the mogul’s perspective.

Lorenzo shed light on his experiences as an undergraduate student and spoke on his career aspirations of entering the sports industry post-grad.
Coming from the lineage of a sports family, Lorenzo spoke of his father, Jerry Manuel, a former Major League Baseball coach, player, and manager and his influence on his career aspirations.
From his early career start in the Los Angeles Dodgers front office to his illustrious
career as a designer, Lorenzo paid homage to his journey and life experiences as inspiration for his work.
Influenced by his sports background, Lorenzo champions the codes that his brand identity stands to represent in the future. “[Athletics] will be the easiest thing for me to design into because all of my designs are formed with the effortless swag of an athlete,” says the former athlete.
The founder of Fear of God’s presence is felt in various places as of late outside of
his appearance at his alma mater. With the help of Adidas, the brand’s current launch in the athletics sector is rolling ahead.
“In order to be a consistent voice in today’s market we needed to have a voice in luxury, accessible aspiration through Essentials, and through performance and sport, he shared.”
Lorenzo stopped at Indiana University, Adidas endorsee, to plant his first seed in college basketball by revealing of the brand’s first uniform and sneaker collaboration. Proceeding this news, the brand announced another collaboration with the University of Miami, another Adidas-sponsored school. “I want to be outside of your box of definition,” stated Lorenzo.
Forwardly, the brand has collaborated with the Bob Marley estate to release a capsule collection in synchrony with the release of the biopic, “Bob Marley One Love,” of the late reggae star as part of the Fear of God Athletics promo run.
FAMU alum Jerry Lorenzo and his team are seemingly not done expanding the boundaries of the Fear of God brand through community, collaboration, and storytelling.
