Tyler Watts is the newest up-and-coming artist hailing from Miami, Florida. Watts graced the WANM platform before his Set Friday performance, where he performed his hit single “Prettiest Girl.”
He was interviewed by WANM 90.5 staff members Clarissa C. (Clarissa Elysee) and E-Class (Elijah Lott). Watts is signed to FYB Records, the label founded by Multi-Platinum R&B star Jacquees. Under Jacquees’ leadership, Watts is carving out his own lane in R&B.
In the interview with WANM 90.5, he spoke about the shift from creating out of passion to creating with purpose, while having the backing of a major artist who believes in his potential.
As he continues to grow musically, he is making connections and gaining recognition from major artists like Timbaland, who featured Watts on the song “Safe” for his album “I’m Mr. 2,000.” He has also received co-signs from artists like Trina and Major Nine, and opened for Tamar Braxton, Rick Ross, Lil Durk and other musical moguls.
Watts discussed his creative journey for his EP Youngin Pt. 2, released in early November, and is preparing to drop his debut album early next year. During the conversation, Watts talked about his opinions on music today, who he hopes to collaborate with and his biggest inspirations in music.
