With growing participation, strong leadership, and a shared passion for the game, Florida A&M  University’s flag football club is putting itself on the map.

Both the men’s and women’s teams are building momentum on campus; creating opportunities for student-athletes to compete, lead, and represent their Rattler pride through a sport that continues to gain recognition nationwide.

Leadership has been instrumental in shaping the program’s direction and culture. Jamaria Jackson, President of the women’s Flag football team, emphasized the importance of commitment, teamwork, and instilling confidence for players to grow both athletically and personally.

“I want them have confidence go into the game enthusiasm like ready, I want them to be passionate but also come with a ready mindset,” Jackson said.

While both the men’s and women’s teams continue to develop their identities, their shared goal remains the same: to elevate the program and ensure FAMU flag football earns recognition and respect across campus and beyond.

Both teams had the opportunity to play in HBCU Legacy Bowl in February where the men’s flag football was able to win the 2026 NFL FLAG HBCU Tournament. While the women’s team did not win their championship this year, they said they have created a passionate, driven and focused flag football club for the future.
