On their HBCU tour, “The Chi” stars Michael V. Epps and Judea Brown stopped by 90.5 The Flava Station during Florida A&M’s “Eternal World Tour” homecoming to discuss all things Black media.

Epps and Brown sat down with third-year broadcast journalism students Trinity Olivier and Te’lay Forbes to discuss their HBCU tour, thoughts on representation in Black media, and the final season of “The CHI.”

When asked about their HBCU tour, both expressed the joy they felt in getting to see what black students can do.

“I love just being able to see this and know that in the future we’re gonna be able to have so much more representation in so many different things in life,” Brown said.

Both also expressed the importance of the impact of Black representation in media.

“When it comes to interviews and I’m sitting down with people that look like us, the vibe and the energy is way better,” Epps said. “It feels like you’re talking to a cousin or family member or some, so I really feel like I could see it impacting us for the better.”

Finally, the cast got into feelings about the final season of the longest-running black drama series, “The Chi.”

“I’m happy and glad that I was able to be a part of this journey and this experience from day one to the last,” Epps said. “I can’t wait to see what our fellow castmates do in the future.”

Brown also expressed her feelings about “The Chi” coming to a close. “It’s been beautiful… it’s definitely mixed emotions with anything in life, sometimes a door has to close for another door to open,” Brown said.

The eighth and final season of “The CHI” is coming soon, and who knows what is in store for this next generation of black talent.
