Real-life situations deserve to be paired with real-life comedy, and with the sitcom “The Vince Staples Show,” the relatable humor series has viewers already begging for more.

Though some may compare it to the hit show “Atlanta,” “The Vince Staples Show” is far from a typical celebrity documentary. The genre-bending blend of music, comedy, and unfiltered introspection has a different feel that sets this show apart.

The daily life of the rapper, actor, and producer Vince Staples is brought to our Netflix screens four years after releasing his first set of short episodes on YouTube. Many fans were happy that the Long Beach, California rapper finally got his time to shine as a producer again, as his writing was just that good before.

Though you will catch yourself laughing out loud every other scene, the show takes a deeper dive into issues such as fame, money and the harsh realities of inner-city life.

“A lot of the time, it’s a lot of nuances in a lot of people’s lives that we always kind of ignore,” Staples expressed during his appearance on The Breakfast Club. “We all have those days where we tell people you know “you won’t believe the **** that happened to me today.” So just trying to find ways to utilize that format and attack deeper issues, as far as classism, socialism, violence…and kinda take a lighter approach.”

Naturally, a description of this satirical sitcom would only be complete if its superior soundtrack is mentioned. The music choices throughout the series not only promotes his California flow, with songs such as “Magic” and “Law Averages,” but it also has the perfect mix of unique compositions. This ideal match added to the striking visual aesthetic, giving each scene a catchy vibe and subtle groove.

Though we can only enjoy five episodes, the last second will have you asking for more. “The Vince Staples Show” is much more than a TV show; it shows the value of artistic expression and the necessity of remaining true to oneself in a society that frequently encourages uniformity.

Regardless of your level of Vince Staples fandom or whether you’re just searching for something new and unique to watch, this show is guaranteed to make an impression. So, when looking for your next show, type in “The Vince Staples Show.” You will not regret it.
