The Florida A&M Women’s basketball team fell to the Arkansas Pine-Bluff University Golden Lions 63-53. The Rattlers have their three-game winning streak snapped and fall to 1-9 on the road.

The Rattlers started off strong, leading by 11 late in the second quarter after center Breazia Robinson made a mid-range jump shot to make the score 26-15. The Rattlers went into halftime up by nine points but lost the lead late in the third quarter. Golden Lions guard Jasmine Davis made a three-pointer to make the score 40-37 in favor of the Golden Lions.

The difference for the Rattlers in this game was points off turnovers and three-point shooting. The Rattlers turned the ball over 16 times to the Golden Lions 14. This allowed the Golden Lions to score 21 points off those turnovers to the Rattlers 14. Guard Tahnyjia Purifoy, Robinson and Camille Jackson had four turnovers each, combining 12 for of the 16 turnovers the Rattlers had. Both Rattler guards struggled shooting following their 20 plus point games last week.

The Rattlers also struggled to shoot from three the whole second half, shooting 4/15 from behind the arch. Arkansas-Pine Bluff guard Jailah led the Golden Lions in scoring, with Pelly 23 points.

The Rattlers fall to 4-12 on the season and 3-2 in conference play while the Golden Lions improve to 6-10 on the season and 3-3 in conference play. The Rattlers will face the Jackson State University Tigers on Thursday Jan. 22 at 6:30 p.m. EST at the Al Lawson Center.
