The 66th Annual Grammys are underway, the biggest night in music and the nominees are in!

The women of music continue to dominate the charts and this year’s categories. R&B singer-songwriter SZA leads with the most nominations, reeling in at nine. Her hit song “Kill Bill” is up for Record and Song of the Year alongside her sophomore album, SOS, in the running for Album of the Year.

The competition is hot in three prominent categories: Record, Song and Album of the Year. Pop stars Miley Cyrus (“Flowers”), Olivia Rodrigo (“Vampire”), Billie Ellish (“What Was I Made For”), Taylor Swift (“Anti-Hero”) and Jon Batiste (“Worship” and “Butterfly”) have each obtained six nominations with songs in each of the three categories.

Victoria Monét is typically recognized for her songwriting skills; however, she shocked the world as she raked in seven Grammy nominations for her debut album, Jaguar II, including Best R&B Album with Babyface, Summer Walker, Coco Jones and Emily King all vying for that top spot.

Her hit song, “On My Mama,” is also up for Record of the Year. That’s not where the celebration stopped for Monét; her daughter, Hazel, became the youngest nominee ever at just two years old. Hazel was nominated alongside her mother and legendary band, Earth, Wind and Fire, for Best Traditional R&B Performance (“Hollywood”).

The 2024 Grammy nominations showcase a blend of emerging talents and established artists. It’s a platform where rising stars share the stage with industry veterans, highlighting the continuity and evolution of musical artistry. Coco Jones, Ice Spice and Noah Kahan are just a few in the running for Best New Artist.

Halle Bailey and her heaven-sent single “Angel” are nominated for Best R&B Song; this will mark the singer’s first nomination as a solo artist since the hiatus of her group with her sister Chloe Bailey.

Drake, Doja Cat and 21 Savage continue to reign in the rap categories, while Nicki Minaj has acquired her first Grammy nomination despite years of being in the game. The “Queen of Rap” is nominated for Best Rap Song (“Barbie World”).
