After a red-hot start to SWAC competition, the Florida A&M Rattlers have lost back-to-back games and look to bounce back tonight against the Alabama State Hornets.

Before this recent skid, the Rattlers appeared to be one of the top teams in the SWAC, winning five straight games. During that run, the trademark of their wins was their stellar three-point shooting. The five-game streak saw the Rattlers shoot 32% from deep on high volume.

In their last two contests FAMU’s shooting arguably cost them both games.

Against Jackson State, after failing to hit a single three point shot in the second period, the Rattlers shot 28.6% from deep, well below conference average.

In their last loss to Alabama A&M, FAMU shot 4-25 in the first half and couldn’t dig themselves out of their deficit despite going 5-8 from three-point land in the second half.

FAMU hopes to return to their winning ways against an ASU team that’s currently on a two-game losing streak.

After dropping two games by double digits, the Hornets find themselves toward the bottom of the SWAC rankings.

If Alabama State looks to defend their home court with a win, they’ll most likely look for a big performance from senior guard Micah Simpson.

In every win the Hornets have had this season, Simpson has had double digit points, and in their last win he put up 23 points and 4 assists.

As for FAMU, they might try to counteract their shooting woes by trying to get their back-to-the-basket big-man Miles Ndalama more involved offensively.

In their last win against Alcorn State, Ndalama dominated with 17 points, 4 rebounds, 3 blocks and 3 assists.

The Ratters take on the Hornets at The Dunn-Oliver Acadome in Montgomery, Alabama at 7pm EST.
